In 'The Land of the Free' Everyone is a Target

As President Barrack Obama continues to polish his Nobel Peace Prize, a private company named Law Enforcement Targets Incorporated has been given a $5.5 million contract with the US government to supply them with line of gun practice targets entitled the 'No More Hesitation' series featuring a pregnant woman, a child, a young mother and grandparents.

More disturbingly Law Enforcement Targets stated that US Federal law enforcement agencies, including the Department of Homeland Security specifically requested these 'All American' gun practice graphics. A statement by the company printed in the Washington Times stated:

“The subjects in NMH targets were chosen in order to give officers the experience of dealing with deadly force shooting scenarios with subjects that are not the norm during training. I found while speaking with officers and trainers in the law enforcement community that there is a hesitation on the part of cops when deadly force is required on subjects with atypical age, frailty or condition (one officer explaining that he enlarged photos of his own kids to use as targets so that he would not be caught off guard with such a drastically new experience while on duty).

This hesitation time may be only seconds but that is not acceptable when officers are losing their lives in these same situations. The goal of NMH is to break that stereotype on the range, regardless of how slim the chances are of encountering a real life scenario that involves a child, pregnant woman, etc. If that initial hesitation time can be cut down due to range experience, the officer and community are better served.”

  2. Hi Thomas,
My name is Thomas Romer but I go under the blogger name Bubo (with, however, a genuine photograph of me on my blog). I agree that hiding behind a pseudonym can be used for cynical purposes but at the same time I also agree with those parts of your work that encourage caution when it comes to divulging personal information and identity on the internet.

I first came across you on corbettreport.com on a podcast about "gaslighting" and proceeded on the strength of it to purchase three books by you. I have now just completed Puzzling People and I gained a lot from it and agreed with it a great deal - I was particularly piqued by your insight on the verb "to spell" which covers similar territory as "casting a spell". I also liked the positive message of the book and as I think myself a survivor of encounters with psychopaths I was especially receptive to what you had to say about the need for self-overcoming, strengthening oneself, and the importance of thoughtfulness and creativity.

Anyway I really valued my time with your book and it was great to find a like-mind with the courage to speak plainly about issues that are easily obfuscated and denigrated under various smear and character assassination campaigns - several of my heroes have been victims of similar tactics.

Anyway I'll communicate my blog address with you should you be ever inclined to check it out, mainly because I am intrigued in how my thinking relates to psychopathy as I believe psychopathy is the underlying theme of all the philosophical pieces on the blog - certainly it was one of my main unconscious motivators for writing it, that and finding a way to myself - and yet, no doubt, many will deem what I write to be itself psychopathic!

Anyway, keep up the good work and I'll be reading The Anvil of The Psyche very shortly! Oh and here is the address:

    Best,
    Tom
